Introducing AI to our product

We know AI is a buzz term and don’t want to use it solely to join the hype around it.

Not everything can be automated yet, but there are certain cases where it makes sense to utilize the power of AI. In the world of content management, AI technology can streamline tedious processes by assisting with intelligent automation. Time saved for both content managers and content users.

    How does Templafy use AI?

In the Templafy platform, we have introduced AI technology to automatically tag uploaded images. This enhances the ability to search for relevant images when creating documents or presentations. Based on how administrators tag images, search results will pull up images tagged with the same term entered in the search bar of the Templafy task pane.

Why is AI image tagging useful?

For content managers, it means all newly uploaded images will automatically be tagged, leading to less time spent manually tagging. It’s also possible to use the AI feature to tag existing images uploaded before the feature was implemented. However, as with most AI features, it should only be used to assist in tagging. There may be company-specific terms which the technology cannot recognize and still need to be added manually. If tagging terms are suggested which do not seem fitting, they can easily be removed.

Another benefit of the AI tagging feature for content managers and administrators is that the AI technology may suggest terms that may not have been thought of otherwise.

For employees using Templafy to create documents and presentations, this feature means they can more easily find the images they’re searching for.

    How does it work?

Templafy utilizes an image recognition tool called Computer Vision made by Microsoft. Computer Vision extracts information from images to process visual data and categorize details into descriptive terms.

The Templafy platform is hosted in Microsoft Azure‘s Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) which is chosen due to its strong features, including strict security standards and compliance. The new AI image tagging functionality does not entail sharing information to third parties beyond Microsoft.
